Srila Prabhupada’s Treasures in Vrindavan

By Daivisakti Devi Dasi

Srila Prabhupada’s Home at the Sri Sri Krishna-Balarama Temple in Vrindavan is the first residence built exclusively for him by his disciples. He stayed in his home whenever he came to Vrindavan from 1972 to 1977. He also chose to enter the divine lila of Sri Sri Krishna-Balarama at his home on November 14, 1977. Since then, his rooms have been converted into an inspiring museum where visitors can appreciate Prabhupada’s presence through his personal belongings, sitting places, library, daily letters, classes and lectures. His private garden is an oasis of peace. His private upstairs rooms offer a glimpse into Prabhupada’s personal life of devotion. Thousands of devotees and pilgrims visit Prabhupada’s House on a weekly basis, and each person receives a handful of prasadam after being blessed with his darshan.

Over the years, some devotees have contributed their precious mementos of Prabhupada in the form of his original clothes, books, personal belongings, letters, etc. Several attractive display cases house these memorabilia. The Bhaktivedanta Archives also helps with the preservation and conservation of these items. Now Prabhupada’s original disciples are leaving this world at a fast pace. Many of them donated their Prabhupada relics to his house before they left this world. Some have considered willing their treasures to be kept in Prabhupada’s house safely. Before the time comes, please consider the importance of preserving any items you might have that could be donated to Prabhupada’s house. We assure that each item you donate will be carefully conserved and respectfully displayed, with your name mentioned as the donor.

If you have anything you would like to donate to Prabhupada’s House, please contact us at ils@pamho.net, or bring your treasures and we can decide together what would be the best arrangement for honoring Prabhupada’s ‘tadiya’.

Aradhananam sarvesam Visnor aradhanam param tasmat parataram devi tadiyanam samarcanam

“Of all types of worship, worship of Lord Visnu is best, and better than the worship of Lord Visnu is the worship of His devotee, the Vaisnava.” (Padma Purana) Srila Prabhupada comments on this verse, “Sri Visnu is sac-cid-ananda-vigraha [Bs. 5.1]. Similarly the most confidential servant of Krishna, the spiritual master, and all devotees of Visnu are tadiya. The sac-cid-ananda-vigraha, guru, Vaisnavas and things used by them must be considered tadiya, and without a doubt worshipable by all living beings.”
(Cc. Madhya 12.38 purport)
