It is Srila Prabhupada’s desire that all the devotees in our society must be well versed with Bhagavata Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Chaitanya Charitamrita. For this purpose, many institutions in our society are doing great service since past few years. Taking inspiration from these well-established institutions, Bhagavata Vidyalaya has been conceptualized for the congregational devotees who wish to study Srimad Bhagavatam deeply and to share it with others.
In his purport to verse SB 5.6.16 Srila Prabhupada writes: “The pastimes of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and His devotees are recorded in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam so that those who recite these pastimes and listen to them will become purified. Nityaṁ bhāgavata-sevayā (SB 1.2.18). As a matter of principle, devotees should read, speak and hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam persistently, twenty-four hours daily if possible.”
With the intention of serving the mood and mission of Srila Prabhupada, a humble attempt is made to open a Bhagavata School in each area. This certified course, exclusively based on Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, is essentially for the congregational devotees. It can be conducted anywhere, in temples, farm communities, places of congregational gathering or at houses of congregational devotees.
Features of Bhagavata Vidyalaya Program:
1. A weekly program mainly lead by the congregational leaders for their congregation members.
2. It would be a three-hour session which includes Kirtan, Reading, Lecture and Question / Answers
3. In each session one chapter of Srimad Bhagavatam will be covered.
4. A maximum of 15 students per session is advised.
5. Each session will be conducted by two to three teachers.
6. Students Handbook and Teachers notes will be provided.
7. There will be a Bhagavata Festival after completion of each level.
8. Students will be encouraged for writing articles and giving presentations.
9. This program is free of cost.
