Koladwipa

Koladwipa

This place is called as Varaha kshetra or Kulyapahada. This place is not different than that of Govardhan Hill in Vrindavan Dham. As like in Govardhan here also in the north there is a forest Bahulavan, and in the south there is Rasa sthali place where Lord does his rasa lilas. In other words this place is called as Koladvipa – parvata, this is because in the ancient time Lord Varaha dev Himself revealed to His Devotee a secret about the glories of Lord Gouranga.

Story of a Brahmana Vasudeva

Young Brahman Vasudev always was engaged in the service of Lord Varaha dev. Worshiping everyday he used to pray as like the next:

-Please, my dear Lord appear before me! Let my eyes see Your sublime face and let my life will be successful!

Sometimes he used to cry and roll on the ground: “If my Lord does not show Himself to me then my life is useless!” Sooner later Lord appeared before Vasudev in the form a boar. His body was decorated with jewelries, feet, neck, face and eyes were very attractive. He was as big as a mountain. Gazing at Him this brahmana thought of how he was fortunate. He felt to the ground and did dandavat to the Lord.

Seeing his sincere devotion Lord Varaha dev told:

-Oh Vasudev, you are my Devotee and I am very much pleased by your service. When there will be the age of Kali I will reveal my lilas here. Please, hear me attentively! In all 3 worlds nothing is comparable to Sri Navadvipa Dham. This place is very dear to Me. Here resides all holy places as like in Brahmavarta. You were fortunate that you were worshiping Me in Navadwipa. You will again take birth here when Lord Gouranga will appear here. You will see maha sankirtana and Lord Gouranga in His golden complexion.

Saying this Lord Varaha dev disappeared. And brahmana started to think about the words of Lord. Learned pandit – Vasudeva started to study the scriptures and become to know that Lord Chaitania appears and performs His lilas in the land of Nadia,  in the very beginning of the age of Kali during the ruler ship of Vayvasvata Manu. Learned sages keep this truth in the secret and talk about Lord Chaitania in a very hidden way, in order it will be understood only by intelligent people.

Knowing about this brahmana performed sankirtana and was in bliss. He always used chant the Holy Name of Gaura. Seeing the mountain like form of Lord Varahadev Vasudeva decided to call this place as Koladwipa-parvata. (“Kola” – boar, “parvata“- mountain.)  But now this place is known as Parvata. Devotees know that this place is not different than Govardhan.
