  • On one hand you are agreeing to perform our duties towards God and on the other hand you are asking that why should we render devotional service!

What duties for God do you have other than devotional service?

I ask why shouldn't we chant Hare Krishna Mahamantra?

Even how or why Work is Worship, which has been nicely summed up by Rashmi Mataji is properly realised after chanting Mahamantra regularly.Without the Mahamantra all such statements like "work is worship" rest in the mental plane only.

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

In Kaliyuga, the only way out of this material world is naam sankirtan - this is mentioned in the last shloka of Srimad Bhagawatam. Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who is non different from Krsna, appeared in the form of His own devotee 500 years ago and told the world how to do naam sankirtana - by chanting the mahamantra, in kirtan as well as in japa. Our authorities, gurus in the same parampara, have advised us to chant the mahamantra.

Chanting is food for the soul. We nourish ourselves by eating food for the body, the same way, we nourish the soul by chanting the mahamantra.

If work is worship, every person who works hard or is passionate about his work, is he a devotee? Are you giving the fruits of your labour to Krsna? No, you are using it for the betterment of yourself and your family. When you work, do you mentally think - Krsna, this work I am doing as a service to You? The answer is no.

It is possible to do karma yoga - that is also mentioned clearly in GIta - the lord has made the provision for "work is worship" kind of people  - please read Gita and understand how to perform work as worship to Krsna.

We should render devotional service to God because we have come from Him, and He is saying in the Gita - manmana bhava mad bhakto..... If we love someone, we want to please that person and we try to find out what would please that person - right? Same way, if we love God, we would like to find out what would please the lord and how to show our love for God. Again answer is in the Gita - Chapter 9, Chapter 18. PLease read the Gita from beginning to end, your questions will be answered.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD
