Two Opposite Emotion in One Container

Gaura a combination of Sambhoga(Union) & Vipralamba(Separation)/ Two Opposite Emotion in One Container

As mention in Gour Govind Maharajs Book - Suddha Nama Bhajana

Two opposites are there in one container, union and separation. It is visamrtera milana, the union of poison and nectar. When two opposites are in one container, that is Gaura. Are these two opposites there in the Krishna container? No. It is there only in the Gaura container. This is the difference between Gaura and Krishna. Otherwise, in tattva there is no difference.

Sachinandana Gauranga is Radha and Krishna combined together in one body, radha-krsna eki-bhutanga. That means in gauranga-svarupa two opposites are combined. What are the two opposites? They are sambhoga and vipralambha, union and separation. Two opposites are combined in one container. That is Chaitanya. It is not present in Krishna, it is with Gaura only.

Srimati Radharani is always crying and feeling the acute pangs of separation from Krishna. That is vipralambha-bhava. In Sanskrit, union is called sambhoga and separation is called vipralambha. So Gaura is the combination of union and separation - sambhoga and vipralambha. Union is opposite to separation, and Mahaprabhu is the combination of both union and separation. That means two opposites are there in one container. That is Gaura. This gaura-tattva is a very deep tattva.

When there is union between Radha and Krishna there is some relishment of mellow and pleasure, milana-ananda. But when separation comes, They feel the acute pangs of separation, and They cry. Feeling the acute pangs of separation from Krishna, Radharani cries. And that is predominating in Mahaprabhu because He has accepted the mood of Radharani, radha-bhava. radha-bhava means vipralambha-bhava. Although there is union of the two bhavas, the mood of separation is predominating. So, because radha-bhava is predominating, Mahaprabhu is always crying in separation from Krishna.

In one form, in one container, you will find two opposites, sambhoga and vipralambha, union and separation. That is navadvipa-lila. Navadvipa-ksetra is vipralambha-lila-ksetra. Krsna-lila is compared to the constant flow of a river. As a river has two embankments, similarly the flow of krsna-lila has two embankments, sambhoga and vipralambha. One embankment is union and the other embankment is separation. The embankment of union is Vrajabhumi. There is no separation there. But in Nabadwip the embankment is separation. Mahaprabhu is always feeling separation in radha-bhava.

Navadvipa-lila is vipralambha. Mahaprabhu is crying. Therefore Mahaprabhu went to Purushottam Kshetra which is vipralambha-ksetra, the place of crying. There, Krishna in the form of Jagannath is crying for Radha, and Krishna in the form of Mahaprabhu is crying for Krishna. Both are crying. It is vipralambha-ksetra. But Vrajabhumi is sambhoga-ksetra. There is no crying, only union.
