The Bhaktivedanta Swami Gurukula School is currently seeking to employ a part-time teacher for the 2017 school year for the following position:

  • Part-time primary school, or PDHPE specialist teacher for the age groups from Kindergarten to Year 6

This teaching position presents a wonderful opportunity to serve Srila Prabhupada and the younger devotee generation. If you are interested, please read the job description or pass it on to someone you know who may be interested.

The position of a Gurukula teacher carries a range of responsibilities which include:

  • Discharging conscientiously and with all due and proper care, attention and diligence the principle duty of educating children in accordance with the policies and practices of the school, the NSW Board of Studies and the directions of the Association of Independent Schools NSW.

  • Developing educational plans and implementing such plans for the relevant KLAs according to the NSW Board of Studies syllabi, the Gurukula policies on the integration of Krishna Consciousness and other related documents.

  • Actively participating in further learning and professional development for teachers, and implementing the best practice teaching methodology in their teaching.

  • Performing all the duties as imposed by law and directed by the school, and abiding by the school’s Code of Conduct for Teachers and Staff Members.

Eligibility, Qualifications and Personal Attributes

  • Bachelor of Education, or Graduate Diploma in Education, or equivalent from an accredited college or university

  • Active membership with the Institute of Teachers NSW

  • Teaching experience in the relevant subject areas

  • Australian residents or holders of a relevant visa allowing employment in Australia

  • Being an active and practicing devotee whose lifestyle and professional conduct are in accord with the teaching precepts presented by Srila Prabhupada

  • All candidates are required to have no criminal record and have a current Working With Children Check clearance from the Office of the Children’s Guardian NSW and ISKCON Child Protection Office.
