Mayapur Gaura Purnima 2015 update.

Dear devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Devotees are being tossed in the waves of ecstasy and Gaura- prema as they traverse the places of pastime of Lord Caitanya and His associates in Navadvipa Mandala Parikrama. Around 5000 devotees in five different groups which also contains Russians is jubilantly enjoying with transcendental singing and dancing , engaging in nine process of devotional service . They are doing the parikrama covering the seven islands in their footsteps from one island to other and staying overnight in the holiest islands with the association of sadhu’s and vaishnavas – a truly transcendental experience & a perfect setting to enter into the faultless mood of celebrating the appearance of Lord Gauranga.

In Pancaveni, confluence of five holy rivers, Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswathi, Alkananda and Bagirathi , His Holiness Bhakti Purusottama Swami very sweetly narrated the pastimes why she stopped at Navadvipa and how she requested King Bagirath to allow her to stay for a month as Lord Gauranga would appear and She wanted to celebrate Lord’s appearance day.

Every one of us, in the footsteps of Ganges, are now anxiously counting the days to welcome the Lord on Gaura Purnima and the following day is a grand celebrations to all the inhabitants of Navadvip, as Jagannath Misra festival Caitanya Caritamrta describes,

“Sacidevi and Jagannatha Misra, having obtained a son who was the husband of the goddess of fortune, had all their desires fulfilled. Their house was always filled with riches and grains. The news spread that Jagannatha Misra and Sacimata had given birth to a baby boy, all sorts of respectable brahmana gentlemen and ladies came with gifts and blessed the newborn child. Even the wives of the demigods came disguised as the wives of brahmanas and presented various gifts.

“Whatever riches Jagannath Misra collected in the form of gifts and presentations, and whatever he had in his house, he distributed among the brahmanas, professional singers, dancers, bhatas and the poor. He honored them all by giving them riches in charity.

Thus the day after the purnima there was a great celebration at Jagannatha Misra’s home.” The same day is celebrated now as Jagannatha Misra Festival –

Vaisnava New year starts from that day. The day is filled with lots of activities, lectures followed with sumptuous prasadam a greatest feast of Lord Gauranga’s mercy, blessings distributed to all the devotees, well-wishers, visitors to Mayapur, a holy Dham.

Many of you may be longing to associate in the event by visiting the Dham, but not everyone is able come to Mayapur and are tasting the day in separation – but fortunately you got the greatest opportunity to participate in the rarest of rare service by sponsoring the great feast of festival prasad.

“The fortunate town of Navadvipa still remains on the earth. The Ganges remains. The same people still live here. The saintly devotees who have taken shelter of Lord Gauranga’s feet remain. Alas! I do not see anywhere see the same kind of festival of pure love for Lord Hari.”

Thank you

Your servant
