Spiritual life is a system of transformation of the heart. Sincere practice of spiritual life transforms our hearts, removes the negative forces of lust, envy and greed and replaces these with the positive forces of love, service and compassion towards all living entities.
 
This journey is similar to the one that a caterpillar must undergo in order to evolve into a beautiful butterfly. The butterfly has one of the most fascinating life cycles of all creatures.  The  transformation phases that each student goes through at the Mayapur Institute (MI) closely resemble this cycle.  

Students enroll at MI, go through a notable transformational experience. As part of this process the students live in the holy dham which is imbued with the kripa shakti of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and they attend the morning program, read scriptures, participate in cheerful festivals and take the most purifying Ganga bath, associate with senior Vaishnavas from worldwide.  More importantly, they read the scriptures extensively as part of their assignments to take in as much scriptural knowledge as possible and are unknowingly getting transformed internally. The students are greatly inspired to read, think and make presentations which help them come out of their comfort zone.
 
Students and faculty at MI create a supportive, close-knit scholarly community energized by group discussions, role plays, debates, dramas, parikramas to different holy places and various other exercises by which the subject matter is churned thoroughly and the students develop solid understanding of scriptures. Upon successfully completing the sastric programs, the students walk away as transformed ‘Krishna Conscious butterflies’ with a different vision of the world based on the sacred texts.
