Sri Subrahmanya Swami temple

On August 22nd our pāda-yātrā party was in Payyanur, Kerala. Located in the Kannur District the town is situated on the banks of the river Perumba. The town has a ‘Sri Subrahmanya Swami’ temple believed to be constructed by Lord Parasurama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu Himself. There are many references to the temple and town in the ‘Hindu Puranas’. In the ‘Brahmanda Purana’ both the temple and town are mentioned by Garga Muni in his explanation of the land of Kerala to the Pandavas during their exile (vanavasa).  We visited this temple, took darśana and performed saṅkīrtana in the courtyard.

Happy Kids

While in Payyanur we were asked to do a program at a school. We travelled there with our pāda-yātrā cart and had a small class and saṅkīrtana for the children who happily participated. Afterwards we distributed prasādam with the Muslim students honoring prasādam as well. Later that evening we held Gaura Ārati with many of our Muslim brothers joining us, and they even bought books from us afterwards. This is how the mercy of the Lord extends everywhere. In total we distributed 866 books while there.

Sri Sri Nitai Gaurasundar ki! Jai!
