Why this form is liked by devotees?

http://vedabase.net/sb/4/24/44/

My dear Lord, I wish to see You exactly in the form that Your very dear devotees worship. You have many other forms, but I wish to see Your form that is especially liked by the devotees. Please be merciful upon me and show me that form, for only that form worshiped by the devotees can perfectly satisfy all the demands of the senses.

The above sloka by lord Shiva is written under this picture so i assume this form is liked by devotees. whats so special about it?

  • Hare Krishna Prabhu,

Regarding the meat eating habit,i want to quote some sloka from Bagavat Gita.

    Bg 2.59

    viṣayā vinivartante
    nirāhārasya dehinaḥ
    rasa-varjaṁ raso ’py asya
    paraṁ dṛṣṭvā nivartate
    Word for word:
viṣayāḥ — objects for sense enjoyment; vinivartante — are practiced to be refrained from; nirāhārasya — by negative restrictions; dehinaḥ — for the embodied; rasa-varjam — giving up the taste; rasaḥ — sense of enjoyment; api — although there is; asya — his; param — far superior things; dṛṣṭvā — by experiencing; nivartate— he ceases from.
    Translation:
Though the embodied soul may be restricted from sense enjoyment, the taste for sense objects remains. But, ceasing such engagements by experiencing a higher taste, he is fixed in consciousness.
    Purport:

Unless one is transcendentally situated, it is not possible to cease from sense enjoyment. The process of restriction from sense enjoyment by rules and regulations is something like restricting a diseased person from certain types of eatables. The patient, however, neither likes such restrictions nor loses his taste for eatables. Similarly, sense restriction by some spiritual process like aṣṭāṅga-yoga, in the matter of yama, niyama, āsana, prāṇāyāma, pratyāhāra, dhāraṇā, dhyāna, etc., is recommended for less intelligent persons who have no better knowledge. But one who has tasted the beauty of the Supreme Lord Kṛṣṇa, in the course of his advancement in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, no longer has a taste for dead, material things. Therefore, restrictions are there for the less intelligent neophytes in the spiritual advancement of life, but such restrictions are only good until one actually has a taste for Kṛṣṇa consciousness. When one is actually Kṛṣṇa conscious, he automatically loses his taste for pale things.

    Bg 2.60

    yatato hy api kaunteya
    puruṣasya vipaścitaḥ
    indriyāṇi pramāthīni
    haranti prasabhaṁ manaḥ
    Word for word:

yatataḥ — while endeavoring; hi — certainly; api — in spite of; kaunteya — O son of Kuntī; puruṣasya — of a man; vipaścitaḥ — full of discriminating knowledge; indriyāṇi — the senses; pramāthīni — agitating; haranti — throw; prasabham — by force; manaḥ — the mind.
    Translation:

The senses are so strong and impetuous, O Arjuna, that they forcibly carry away the mind even of a man of discrimination who is endeavoring to control them.
    Purport:

There are many learned sages, philosophers and transcendentalists who try to conquer the senses, but in spite of their endeavors, even the greatest of them sometimes fall victim to material sense enjoyment due to the agitated mind. Even Viśvāmitra, a great sage and perfect yogī, was misled by Menakā into sex enjoyment, although the yogīwas endeavoring for sense control with severe types of penance and yoga practice. And, of course, there are so many similar instances in the history of the world. Therefore, it is very difficult to control the mind and senses without being fully Kṛṣṇa conscious. Without engaging the mind in Kṛṣṇa, one cannot cease such material engagements. A practical example is given by Śrī Yāmunācārya, a great saint and devotee, who says:

    yad-avadhi mama cetaḥ kṛṣṇa-pādāravinde
    nava-nava-rasa-dhāmany udyataṁ rantum āsīt
    tad-avadhi bata nārī-saṅgame smaryamāne
    bhavati mukha-vikāraḥ suṣṭhu niṣṭhīvanaṁ ca

“Since my mind has been engaged in the service of the lotus feet of Lord Kṛṣṇa, and I have been enjoying an ever new transcendental humor, whenever I think of sex life with a woman, my face at once turns from it, and I spit at the thought.”

Kṛṣṇa consciousness is such a transcendentally nice thing that automatically material enjoyment becomes distasteful. It is as if a hungry man had satisfied his hunger by a sufficient quantity of nutritious eatables. Mahārāja Ambarīṣa also conquered a great yogī, Durvāsā Muni, simply because his mind was engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness (sa vai manaḥ kṛṣṇa-padāravindayor vacāṁsi vaikuṇṭha-guṇānuvarṇane).

So,by eating lot of prasadam in ISKCON temples :) one can easily get rid of the meat eating tendency. So please associate with the temple near your place and take as much prasadam as you can. This is my personal experience. Now i cant even think about meat eating. So,Prasad is the higher taste to get rid of meat eating tendency and Hearing the holy name, hearing bhagavatam and serving pure devotees is the higher taste to get rid of sexual attachment.

Hope this answers your doubt and question.

    All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

  • Hare Krishna Prabhu,
Bg 11.50 — Sañjaya said to Dhṛtarāṣṭra: The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, having spoken thus to Arjuna, displayed His real four-armed form and at last showed His two-armed form, thus encouraging the fearful Arjuna.
Bg 11.51 — When Arjuna thus saw Kṛṣṇa in His original form, he said: O Janārdana, seeing this humanlike form, so very beautiful, I am now composed in mind, and I am restored to my original nature.
Bg 11.52 — The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: My dear Arjuna, this form of Mine you are now seeing is very difficult to behold. Even the demigods are ever seeking the opportunity to see this form, which is so dear.
Bg 11.53  The form you are seeing with your transcendental eyes cannot be understood simply by studying the Vedas, nor by undergoing serious penances, nor by charity, nor by worship. It is not by these means that one can see Me as I am.
Bg 11.54 — My dear Arjuna, only by undivided devotional service can I be understood as I am, standing before you, and can thus be seen directly. Only in this way can you enter into the mysteries of My understanding.
Bg 11.55 — My dear Arjuna, he who engages in My pure devotional service, free from the contaminations of fruitive activities and mental speculation, he who works for Me, who makes Me the supreme goal of his life, and who is friendly to every living being – he certainly comes to Me.
    All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Dear Siddharth prabhu...You are asking very nice questions...If you allow me...i hope i can ask you a question...are you chanting 16 rounds and reading scriptures daily ( atleast 1 hour)...Atleast if we follow ABCD...Association of devotees...Book reading....Chanting...Diet control ( only krishna prasadam)....Because many times i see your questions...they are very authentic and nice, but are you doing some good endeavor from your side so that you can understand the answers in a proper scriptural angle of vision...The questions which we ask in materialistic life are different and to be frank, when we ask questions about our true identity , the supreme person who is absolutely pure...we need to be very sincere that when we understand one particular concept in fullness, then we can go to the next question...In many of your posts...i humbly noticed that you are asking questions about many things...but did u get complete answer and did u understand them...unfortunately i was unable to notice your realizations regarding the answers...when a devotee suggests you to read a particular aspect, we need to work on it thoroughly and moreover the secret of understanding the scriptures is clearly given in the " Introduction to bhagavat gita" by HDG AC BHAKTIVEDANTA SWAMI PRABHUPADA...we need to go step by step and steadily....we need to chant the hare krishna mahamantra also...Once you had mentioned about some purana...and when some answers are provided...you had expressed interest to study kurma purana...Did you go through the many puranas? did u understand them? Did you study kurma purana and did u understand kurma purana...kindly send kurma purana pdf in english if you can get as a soft copy please...

Regarding your question " why this form is liked by devotees" ....krishna is the supreme personality of godhead...who has got 6 opulences in full....he is infinitely beautiful...its all given in bhakti rasamrta sindhu...did u study " nectar of devotion" or bhakti rasamrta sindhu ?...

Of course we can ask questions...But i also request you that if u go on understanding the answers and realizations in a proper way...you will be closer to krishna...

kindly dont get offended by my words..They are just to make you a little strict in your endeavor to understand krishna consciousness in a proper way...

wishing you all success in spiritual life

    yours humble servant

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

Devotees of the lord are attracted more to Vrindavan Krsna then to Dwarkadhish Krsna. In this picture, the lord is with Srimati Radharani, alongwith the sakhis. This is madhurya rasa. Goloka Vrindavan is the highest planet, madhurya rasa is the highest rasa and the lord and the eternal servitor Srimati Radharani are together. That is why this is the most intimate picture of the lord and revered by devotees.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Rashmi
