Hare KRSNA , Prabhuji and Mataji
While discussing how to live life in this material world , i asked my wife to seek inspiration from Ramayana . But she asked me one question which i was unable to anwer.
She feels that it was unjustified on the part of Lord Ram to send Sita Mata in the forests just because of comments of one Washermen . I tried to justify on the basis that it was duty of Lord Rama as a King to take care of opinions of his people (Praja) but she was not convinced.
Kindly provide any good reason and explanation that i can give to my wife.
Jai Shri Krishna..
In the age of Ram, people were very God conscious. They were very pious. Men and women used to be spiritually inclined. Dharma/Duty was what dictated their actions. It was the King's Dharma to do what was necessary to keep peace, justice etc. in the kingdom that he ruled. Similarly as Prabhupada had mentioned, the Kshatriya, when challenged to a fight.. had to take up the challenge. It was his Dharma. You were bound by Dharma. A wife had her set of Dharma that she had to follow. Some of her Dharma/Duty was to follow the order of her husband. In those days the wife, in order to preserve her purity and the societies, they would set themselves alight on their husband's burning pyre. I think they called it "SATI".
So the King had to keep his Praja/citizens happy and satisfied, even if it's one person. In those days if any bad thing happened, the King was directly held accountable. In those days nothing untoward would happen in his kingdom if the King was a Godly person. Therefore in order to preserve Dharma, he was forced to send Sita Ma in exile. Sita Ma being bound by Dharma, had no choice but to follow her husband's and her King's order. She was very pious too. Following her husbands orders, there in was her greatness.
In the time of Kalyuga, people are materially inclined and Dharma is just a fashionable word. People are more self conscious and selfish so Dharma is in the decline. Thus they cannot appreciate/understand the pious who were Duty/Dharma bound.
Manojkumar Prabhuji Thank you very much for your reply. I have passed on the reply to my wife and i hope that Krsna gives her intelligence to understand this..
Thank you again
lord rama signifies the parma purushothma according to ramayana and that he was not just like any other human because he was incarnation of srivishnu and mata sita as lakshmi so they were just playing a part as to humans to understand that what is the dharma of a man as a husband and a women as a wife.
Thank you very much Mamta Mataji for your reply , i have forwarded the same to my wife . Hope wisdom prevails
Hare Krsna prabhus, The story of Mother Sitas banishment to the forest. Lord Ramas sleeping on the floor and how Sita entered into the earth in the royal assembly are for me very painful to hear. I also felt some anger at the injustices which by the will of providence came to Mother Sita. But like Her beloved Lord Rama She followed the highest religious principles taught in the vedas. And She stood by Him and served Him to the very end. The self sacrifice Mother Sita has shown to the world is so transcendental and pure. Lord Rama is madyada purushottama, Ideal in every respect and so Is Mother Sita. By hearing Ramayana from the devotees all suffering in this world dissappearse and feelings of love for the Suprema Lord are awakaned. Jai Sita Ram
Hare Krishna Prabhuji,
I had heard a wonderful enlightning Bhagvatam class lecture by H.H.Radhanath Swami Maharaj on this topic. Maharaj explains the reasons behind Lord Ram sending Mother Sita away from Him.My takeways from this lecture which put to rest all my apprehensions w.r.t this topic:
1.Love in separation is the highest form of ecstasy in the spiritual world.Lord Ram wanted Mother Sita to experience this love ( Vipralambh bhav) just like the Gopis of Vrindavan and also Mother Sachidevi and Vishnupriya devi when Chaitanya Mahaprabhu took sanyasa.
2.The supreme Lord and His consort can never be separated. They are eternally together.
Plz listen to this lecture:
Hope this helps
A couple listen the story of Ramayana. After the story finishes ,
Husband: What do u understand by Ramayana ?
Wife: U should be like Ram. And what do u understand ?
Husband: You should learn from sita and follow her ideas.
This is what happens. So i want you to understand that firstly u behave like Ram then teach her.
I think u will not mind it.
