atleast 16 rounds of mahamantra are most compulsory..
if ur target is to achieve a krishna conscious married life than any system u apply is worthy...
otherwise however, yes, atleast 18 guna are compulsory for happy married life but all vain in u dont live a krishna conscious life...

for materialists, it is necessary. If you are a soul completely surrendered to Krsna, It really does not matter cuz then you will be personally taken care of by Krsna. Your life will be transcendental , beyond material happiness and distress and whatever will happen in your life will happen with personal care of Krsna. Even if you are not completely surrendered, for devotees, astrology does not affect the same way as it does for materialists. Srila BhaktiSiddhanta Saraswati mahraj was a scholar in astrology. He had the post of HOD in calcutta university. But he left his studies and took sannyas.. Srila Prabhupada told in some lectures something like.. that for devotees, astrology does not matter much.
