It is also of significant importants to offer what is eaten to Vishnu. Thus what shelter that can be provided by Hi's good intelligent ce & association will be avalabal to the consumers. Allways give thanks & in giving thanks the greater good will be achieved always. This can be assumed! This is my assumption & hopes!
  • Contrary to the popular belief that the food we take won't affect our mind we all know about some of the extreme cases how things we consume can have drastic effect on our mind. Take drugs for instance. Though they are not food substance it's a big hint that food are made of chemicals. So, if some food substance which are chemicals when reacted with our body which are also technically chemicals will indeed produce some effect with behavioral changes being one of the symptoms.

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

Even in the material world, it is said - you are what you eat.

Our consciousness is developed based on the food we eat. Food has been divided into 3 kinds - sattva, rajas and tamas. Mentioned clearly in Gita - pls read.

Not only that, the consciousness of the cook is also transferred to the food. Therefore, devotees are very careful to eat food cooked by devotee, and first offered to lord.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD

    • Hare krishna!!! How consciousness of the cook is transferred to the food???

This is mentioned in the scriptures, practically seen and experienced by devotees.

I will tell you a small story - a true incident that happened in Kolkata few years ago. One senior devotee from Mayapur was invited to a grihasta's house for a meal. After the meal, that senior devotee returned to Mayapur and kept on humming some rock music. Now, this devotee was a rock star before he joined ISKCON, so he was wondering why rock music is coming back to him after so many years. Then he made his assistant call up that mataji in Kolkata and ask her whether she was listening to rock music while cooking. It turned out to be true!!!

We were told about this incident (without any names) and told to be doubly careful of our consciousness whenever we cook for Maharajs or senior disciples.

        I hope this convinces you.

On a baser level, you can test yourself and see. When you eat home cooked food made by mother, and when you eat outside food, there is a difference in your consciousness level. The lust factor is a lot more when you eat outside food. Isnt it so?
