Formal ending of Ekadashi Fast

Hare Krishna Prabhu ji's and Mata ji's

I am taking Ekadashi Fast from almost 2 years, but I want to know, shall I keep on taking Ekadashi Fast forever or it requires Ritualistic Ending also, kindly advise me.

  • I know prabhu ji but should we keep on taking ekadashi fast or it would require some ritualistic breaking also.. like if it requires some "Udiyaapna" because someone told me that ekadashi fast too requires Udiyapan as  you cannot take it unlimitedly.. please correct and guide me.

    Thanks prabhu ji

      Hare KRsna Prabhuji,

      PAMHO.

I know what you mean. When you are fasting on the material platform, asking for some desire or the other, then that fast requires a udyaapan, like 16 Mondays or Thursdays fasts. However, fasting on ekadasi is on the spiritual platform - this is done to purify the soul and the purpose is to please the lord. Therefore, there is no concept of udyaapan in ekadasi. This is to be done in every lifetime, for life.

Its like saying - I will love someone for 2 years - can you stop loving (your mother, for instance), now that you are grown up or are in devotion? It has no end - it appears to have a beginning.

I hope I have been able to explain.
