Does bacteria have a soul?

Hare Krishna! These days I see a lot of food stuffs like Probiotic drinks that claim to contain billions of good bacteria which help in improving digestion & building immunity. However, I was wondering do these living micro organisms have a soul like dogs, cats, humans?? Kindly through some light on this and educate me please.

    my humble obeisances!

Not only as cats and dogs but as like a souls of human beings. Bacterias are there not only in milk or curd but in the air which breath also. So even breathing we may kill many many living entities. In every step we may kill some ants. So in this way our life is full for sins.

Only way and emergency is to call out for Krishna and take us out of this samsara of birth and death.

    Your servant,

Hare Krishna, dandvats, Mataji. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Your question is good as one needs to understand what we take is it a part and parcel of Krishna? Let’s see what Bhagwad Gita As It Is by Srila Prabhupada says in this context. Please read Chapter 7 Text 4 and 6 with the Purport of Srila Prabhupada and it should be clear.

Observation / Comments: As everything is part and parcel of Krishna, it represents Krishna and yes the soul is there otherwise how they can change themselves / expand, as there are bacterias in Yogurt which changes the form of milk to curd. Thanks, Gauranga, Radhe Radhe, Hari Bol! Hare Krishna.

    • Hare Krishna Prabhuji, Dandvat Pranaam.

Prabhuji, its a sin to kill living entities , even an ant, then bacteria as a living entity is consumed by us in the form of curd and bread; so does it make bread and curd non-vegetarian food? Are Vaishnavas allowed to consume them?

      Thanks,

      Hari Bol! Radhe Radhe

Hare Krishna, dandvats, Mataji. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Everything as such is Krishna only in different forms so it is consumed by Krishna only, but all being one as Krishna yet it is different too, yes, we can consume curd n bread no issues as is with regard to plants too, but offer to Krishna to let the sins be removed from them, then it becomes sanctified food Maha Prasad, Thanks, Hare Krishna.

        • Hare Krishna Prabhuji. This is a great explanation.
However, this doesn't apply to killing animals, and it is not recommended.

  • Every living entity has soul inside it. It is a universal truth.
