Consciousness parenting

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

I'd really like to connect with some parents in ISKCON for good association and share parenting strategies and build a support network for raising Krsna Conscious kids.

I have 3 children. My stepson is almost 11; he's more drawn to Christianity because that is what he grew up with prior to my husband and I marrying. My two daughters, 3 years and 1.5 years, are blossoming as devotees. They love going to temple and randomly break out singing maha mantra throughout the day. I would love to encourage my children spiritually, but I struggle with this as I was raised in a un-religious household.

I would love to talk with other parents about how they deal with darshan with their children, daily activities, etc.

    Hare Krsna Mataji,

    PAMHO.

My dandvat pranams to you. What wonderful thoughts. It is so right - we have make our children Krsna Conscious.

I must first confess that I am not the right person to comment or advice on this matter - Krsna has not entrusted any soul to me for this purpose.

What I know about parenting is - children never do what they are told to do, they always do what they see parents doing. So the best way to make them Krsna Conscious is to be Krsna Conscious.

You can bring in a fun element in their journey by introducing KC games - tell them stories of the lord's pastimes, make them play KC games (nowadays I see games in the stalls in temple), make prasadam for them, do arati and japa diligently. Show them little Krsna videos - I am sure most of it you must be doing already.

I think you are looking for something specific taht has worked with other children. I am unable to help you there.

What we do is - every janmashtami, we put up a games stall with all KC related games for all age groups. It is essentially for children, but everyone enjoys. I can share some of the games with you if you want. Pls write to me separately.

    Haribol,

    YOur servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD
