    in order to control our tongue from eating too much then there have to be done the next things:

    1. Food always should be first nicely offered to Krishna with devotion and love. It is the prime rule and regulation!

    2. Before honoring the food one should pray to the food - Prasadam special prayers.

    3. One should honor food along with close friends or alone. With people whom you respect and love.

    4. One can put lectures and hear about Krishna on the place of watching. Because it is important that we see with our eyes what we eat. Because through eyes also we get energy from the food and that only gives main satisfaction. Because of that Krishna says that food should be pleasing to the heart. It should look nice.

    5. While honoring food one should eat with hands and chew nicely. Water better to drink before the food or in between but never after the food. If we do so then fire will be turned off and we won't get all the benefits of that what we ate but it will go in vain. Unfortunately in India most of people drink water just after the food. Which is also a cause of overweight. 

    6. Food should be tasty. And too much or too less. And not too spicy. Better to sit on the floor in the lotus posture. 

    7. And right after the food one should walk at least 100 steps. It is for good digestion.

    8. In order to control the amount of food we should just regulate our diet. If we have desire to eat much, it is a problem. So in order to rectify that we should regulate our regime. In one time everyday and 3-2 times a day. In this way regulation helps to control our mind from hunger.

    AND THE LAST THING WANTED TO ADD IS THAT BETTER IS TO BE VERY THIN RATHER THAN FAT. Srila Prabhupada told that only one centimeter of fat under the skin is normal for a Devotee we should not allow to gain more. Otherwise it will cause for laziness and at least it will be an obstacle for active service.

    what input we take through five sense  , our output depends on that accordingly. we are controlled by material nature, and nature is a combination of three modes i.e. passion, ignorance and goodness. Now whatever we intake it has its root in either of these three modes. similarly food that we take has its category under this modes. Let us see what Krishna Says in Gita about this.

    BG 17.7: Even the food each person prefers is of three kinds, according to the three modes of material nature. The same is true of sacrifices, austerities and charity. Now hear of the distinctions between them.

    BG 17.8: Foods dear to those in the mode of goodness increase the duration of life, purify one's existence and give strength, health, happiness and satisfaction. Such foods are juicy, fatty, wholesome, and pleasing to the heart.

    BG 17.9: Foods that are too bitter, too sour, salty, hot, pungent, dry and burning are dear to those in the mode of passion. Such foods cause distress, misery and disease.

    BG 17.10: Food prepared more than three hours before being eaten, food that is tasteless, decomposed and putrid, and food consisting of remnants and untouchable things is dear to those in the mode of darkness.

    A crude example is just like Alchohol, if we take it in excess we loose control of our mind. Similarly when we take garlic, onion it increases our sensuality , we feel lusty. To practise spirituality one need to make his complete system sattvik or in mode of goodness. Because in mode of passion and ignorance we remain in lower nature and not able to understand what is what. Upanisad says food becomes our mind so thought in mind has direct impact depending on what we are taking as our eatable. Mind is the master of senses, so if food has direct impact on mind and mind is the pivot to practice spirituality then we understand how food plays a vital role in ones life who wants spiritual progress in life.

      also wanted to say something else.

      All living entities have their gross plus subtle bodies. And that subtle body means they have particular qualities. As like different people have different qualities. And it is nothing but mixture of these 3 modes of material nature tama, sattva, raja.

      Mixing together they create unlimited different qualities. In this way plants, animals, human beings have qualities. Even we find some stones who have life and even they have qualities. And it says that tell me who is your friend i will tell you who you are. 

      If we eat ingredients with good qualities then we will get those qualities but if eat products with bad qualities then we will get  their qualities. It is easy to understand. 

      And when we know these things it is easy to control our senses. Because to know means strong mind and intelligence and senses are subordinate to mind and mind is subordinate to intelligence. In this way knowledge makes us strong.

      So for example, wheat is by nature humble. If we eat wheat products then we will gain the quality of humility. Or rice also humble. Please, see, they are all living entities. Apple is very optimistic and if we eat we will be come like that. Bananas are very soft in nature. Nutmeg is very peaceful...

      In the other side

      onion is very hateful, garlic is very aggressive.
